The Poetics of Distortion: Panoramic Photographs of the San Francisco Bay Area
The transformation of three-dimensional space to a two-dimensional surface. Panoramic photographer Thomas Schiff enlisted us to curate his panoramic images of the San Francisco Bay Area into a sprawling monograph.
Schiff’s panoramas capture a 360º scene on film, transforming the familiar into the surreal. The 360º concept was carried throughout the book with images, text, and diagrams beginning on one page and wrapping to the opposite–a system that both orients the reader to the process and captures some of the mystery between.
